Discover the Different Features You’ll Find with Gas Fireplace Heating Systems

Many people are opting for gas fireplace systems for the extra convenience they offer. They require little maintenance and at Kozy Heat Fireplaces, we have a number of quality fireplace products from which you can choose. Before making that choice, you’ll need to understand how the different systems work.

Combustion Systems

There are two main types of gas fireplaces:

A direct vent gas insert is a natural gas or liquid propane fireplace that is installed into an existing masonry fireplace or factory built wood burning fireplace that uses the existing chimney as a chase to run the venting. The fireplace is a sealed combustion chamber that draws air from outside the home and exhausts the fumes out the chimney cap.

A gas fireplace is a natural gas or liquid propane fireplace that has a sealed combustion chamber and draws air from outside the home and exhausts the fumes from the fire out the chimney cap creating a clean enjoyable fire. This type of fireplace does not require an existing fireplace or chase to be present, as the pipe can run horizontally out of the house or vertically through the roof as long as clearances are maintained.

Flame Adjustment

One of the unique features of gas fireplace systems is the ability to adjust the size of the flame. Most of the systems come with a Komfort Kontrol remote control that helps you make your preferred adjustments from flame height, fan speed, accent light modulations (if applicable) Split flow valve operation (if applicable) from the comfort of your couch.

Thermostat Control

A few systems may come with a thermostat control mechanism. With the Komfort Kontrol remote, it comes standard.
