We will continue to uphold our fireplace’s reputation of quality and value and we are proud to put our family name, Hussong Manufacturing, on every product we sell.

2) Why should I choose a Kozy Heat fireplace?

Kozy Heat fireplaces have always been known for three things in the fireplace industry.

Flame:  Kozy Heat prides itself in the flame appearance of its gas fireplaces to make the most realistic flames in the hearth industry.

Heat:  Being manufactured in Minnesota, we know a thing or two about cold weather.  Kozy Heat fireplaces are a high efficient heater rated fireplace that will provide warmth in any room and help you decrease your energy bill saving you money over time.

Value:  Kozy Heat’s current president Jim Hussong was quoted once saying, “Kozy Heat fireplaces provide affordable elegance for your home.”  That comment couldn’t be truer when you begin your shopping experience.  Kozy Heat understands that you are investing a lot of money into your home, but we stride ourselves in making that decision affordable to anyone.

3) Where is the product built?

Kozy Heat fireplaces are American made in Lakefield, MN since 1976.

4) Where will the fireplace be installed?

It is important to know where you would like the fireplace installed when you begin the shopping process.  If you have an existing wood burning fireplace that you want to convert to gas, means you will be shopping for an insert.  If you do not have a wood burning fireplace currently, that is fine, it means that you will be shopping for a zero-clearance gas fireplace.  Those provide options of being installed on flat walls, in corners, elevated, etc.

5) Will this fireplace heat my room?

Please contact your nearest Dealer to discuss.

6) What is Zone Heating?

A Kozy Heat fireplace can not only provide you with warmth and ambiance, but it can provide you with energy savings by Zone Heating. While you’re central furnace turns on and off numerous times throughout an hour it is heating the entire house, and more importantly heating rooms that are not even being used.  It is similar to turning on all the lights in your house when you are only sitting in one room.  Both cases you are wasting money on your energy bill.

Turning on your Kozy Heat fireplace will heat the primary sitting room where the heat is needed the most, and the result means your central furnace does not run as often saving you money.  A study performed on zone heating homes reflected an energy savings of 20 – 40 percent compared to homes that do not use zone heating.*

7) What fuel choice do you have accessible?

Kozy Heat manufactures fireplaces for wood and gas fuel sources.  All of our gas fireplace ship standard natural gas, but if you have liquid propane (LP) at your residence a conversion kit can be purchased to use LP.

8) Will my gas fireplace operate in loss of power?

Yes, all the Kozy Heat gas fireplaces will operate in a loss of power.  If your fireplace has the IPI valve system you will need to have batteries in the battery back-up.  If your fireplace is equipped with fan kit or lights, those items will not work in loss of power.

9) Can I run my fireplace without the fan?

Yes, all of the fireplaces are tested with and without the fan operating.  In a loss of power situation you can operate the fireplace as long as needed without any concerns.

10) Can I buy my Kozy Heat fireplace directly from the factory?

Unfortunately no we do not sell direct out of the factory.  Kozy Heat is a dealer direct company, meaning all of the product is sold to dealers.

11) Can I buy my Kozy Heat fireplace over the internet?

The Kozy Heat product line is represented by quality dealers throughout North America. These independent retailers are trained in helping to determine the best product for your needs and warranty support for their customers should questions come up during or after the installation of your fireplace. We recommend utilizing the nearest authorized Kozy Heat dealer in your area, and highly recommend utilizing a factory-trained or NFI certified installer. Kozy Heat does not allow our dealers to sell product via the internet or outside of a reasonable distance that they are willing to provide service to their customer after the sale. If your purchase is made via the Internet, you assume all responsibility for technical assistance, warranty support, freight damages, qualified installation, and service.

Kozy Heat will bear no responsibility for purchases made via the internet or from an unauthorized dealer.

PLANNING AND INSTALLATION STAGE

12) What is the difference between radiant and convective heat?

a. Radiant heat is the heat you feel coming off the front of the glass.  Or another way of thinking about radiant heat is that is what you feel from the sun on a sunny day.

b. Convective heat is the warmth you feel when the fans are running pushing air out the top of the grill or louver.  A close example of convective heat is a hair dryer.

13) What does zero clearance mean?

Zero clearance is a term used to explain how close the fireplace can be to combustible material, usually framing.  It doesn’t necessarily mean the firebox itself, it could be zero clearance from the standoff.  Many fireplaces have a standoff, which is a distance needed before you can have combustible material installed.

14) Who should install my fireplace?

Kozy Heat recommends all of its fireplaces to be installed by Kozy Heat authorized dealers or factory trained installers.  A gas fireplace is something that is 100% safe when installed properly, but it should only be done by knowledgeable and trained technicians.  Failure to have the fireplace installed by a qualified installer will void the Limited Lifetime Warranty of the fireplace.
